Things machine translation won’t do for you

I was just translating an article about a sporting event for a client and came across a link to a Wikipedia article about one of the athletes. However, I saw in the URL for the article that it said “redlink.” As a big fan of Wikipedia, I knew immediately that this meant the article was non-existent. Now, I could have just left the link as-is and moved on, but I’m a strong believer in doing things the right way, not just the easy way. So, I went ahead and created the Wikipedia article in question, complete with citations to reputable sources, and inserted the new link. There’s something you won’t get from machine translators like Google Translate.
